In response to the tragedy, fellow bandmate Zayn Malik has decided to postpone the U.S. leg of his “Stairway to the Sky” tour. Zayn Malik, aged 31, had planned to launch his first solo tour in San Francisco on October 23. However, in light of the unforeseen circumstances, Malik informed fans via Instagram on October 19 that the initial dates would be rescheduled to January, citing the “heartbreaking loss” they were all experiencing. “Your tickets remain valid for the new dates,” he assured fans, expressing gratitude for their understanding.

This tragic news follows the death of Liam Payne, confirmed on October 16 when the 31-year-old singer fell from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. According to Buenos Aires emergency services chief Alberto Crescenti, Payne’s injuries were “incompatible with life,” including a cranial fracture, making resuscitation attempts futile. Payne’s passing sparked an investigation by local law enforcement, following unconfirmed reports suggesting the involvement of substances.

Payne and Malik rose to fame as part of One Direction, formed on the UK edition of “The X Factor” in 2010, alongside Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson. The band released five albums before Malik’s departure in 2015 and went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016. Since then, each member has pursued solo careers, with Payne releasing his debut album “LP1” in 2019.

Malik’s upcoming “Stairway to the Sky” tour, his debut solo endeavor, was initially announced in September and quickly sold out. The tour was designed to promote his fourth studio album, “Room Under the Stairs,” released in May.
