Power Book III: Raising Kanan Announces Final Season and New Character

HOLLYWOOD, CA — The hit series Power Book III: Raising Kanan has confirmed that its upcoming fifth season will be its last. The announcement comes just after the series aired its exciting Season 4 finale on May 15, 2025.

In the finale, actor Shameik Moore made his debut as Branford “Breeze” Frady, a character long anticipated by fans. Breeze, a drug kingpin from Jamaica, Queens, enters the narrative in a dramatic introduction where he is introduced to young Kanan Stark (MeKai Curtis) by street legends Snaps (Wendell Pierce) and Pop (Erika Woods).

Showrunner Sascha Penn expressed his pride in having crafted a complete five-season arc, stating, “It was always my intention that Raising Kanan would run for five seasons. Thanks to my friends and partners at Starz and Lionsgate, as well as the incredible cast and crew, I’ve been able to tell the entirety of the story I set out to tell back in 2019.”

With the stakes higher than ever following the explosive season finale, Penn reassured the audience that they can expect an intense and action-packed conclusion. “The stakes for Kanan and the entire Thomas family have never been higher,” he added.

Shameik Moore shared his excitement about joining the franchise, saying, “The Power Universe fans have been patiently anticipating this moment, and I’m honored to step into the iconic role of Breeze. It’s gonna be a wild ride.”

The character Breeze has been mentioned since the franchise’s original series began in 2014, where he employed Kanan, James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), and Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) as corner boys. The Season 4 finale provides an essential link between this prequel series and the original.

Raising Kanan has explored Kanan’s complicated relationships, particularly with his mother, Raquel “Raq” Thomas (Patina Miller). The fourth season featured Kanan navigating a truce with Raq, while facing external pressures, notably from Unique (Joey Bada$$).

As the franchise proceeds into its final stretch, the Power legacy continues to develop, with additional projects, including a prequel titled Power: Origins, currently in development.
