Northern Michigan Weather Forecast

Gaylord, Michigan – A late-season chill is set to grip Northern Michigan Monday night, with temperatures dipping into the low 30s. This drop in temperature is prompting fresh frost concerns across much of the interior, affecting areas including Otsego, Antrim, and Charlevoix counties.

Drivers along M-32 and rural residents are advised to prepare for possible crop and garden damage. The National Weather Service in Gaylord has issued a warning that widespread frost is likely after 3 a.m. Tuesday, especially in inland areas such as Gaylord, Boyne Falls, and Grayling.

Monday night temperatures could drop to 34°F under mostly clear skies, marking one of the coldest spring nights recorded this May. Gardeners are urged to cover plants, and those in low-lying areas should protect sensitive vegetation to guard against frost.

For morning commuters, patchy fog may reduce visibility as temperatures drop. Daytime conditions are expected to be pleasant, with Monday highs near 55°F and sunny skies throughout the day.

Tuesday will continue the cool trend with mostly sunny weather and a high of 57°F, although another round of frost is possible as nighttime temperatures again approach 39°F in interior zones. The rest of the week looks like it will remain seasonally mild.
