Small Plane Crash Near Broomfield Claims One Life

BROOMFIELD, Colorado — A small plane crashed in a field just outside Broomfield on Saturday morning, resulting in at least one death. North Metro Fire Rescue reported the incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. in unincorporated Boulder County near Brainard Drive and Midway Boulevard.
The twin-engine Beechcraft aircraft had taken off from Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport. Reports indicate the pilot contacted air traffic control shortly after departure, alerting them about an issue with the plane’s door.
Sara Farris, a spokesperson for North Metro Fire, confirmed that the aircraft went down in an area that includes the Carolyn Holmberg Preserve at Rock Creek Farm. Sadly, there were no survivors, although the exact number of fatalities was not confirmed by the fire department by 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
As first responders extinguished a small grass fire caused by the crash, Farris noted it covered an area approximately 100 feet by 100 feet. The Sheriff’s Office issued a warning for people to avoid the crash site due to the ongoing investigation.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been notified and will lead an investigation into the cause of the crash, alongside the Federal Aviation Administration. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will release the identities of the deceased once their families are informed.
The associated Sheriff’s Office case number for this incident is 25-02367.
