Cubs Vs Marlins Baseball Game Highlights

MIAMI, Fla. – The Chicago Cubs faced off against the Miami Marlins Monday night at loanDepot Park, opening a three-game series. The game featured a dramatic comeback, with Miami clinching an 8-7 victory in their final at-bat.

The Marlins started strong, launching back-to-back solo home runs from Luis Arraez and Jorge Soler in the bottom of the first inning. However, Chicago countered in the fourth when Cody Bellinger hit a three-run homer, pushing the Cubs ahead 3-2.

Despite their lead, Cubs pitcher Justin Steele encountered difficulties in the fifth inning. Garrett Hampson tied the game with an RBI triple, and Jake Burger‘s single brought in the go-ahead run, making it 6-3 for Miami.

Chicago fought back in the sixth, loading the bases against reliever A.J. Puk with nobody out. Patrick Wisdom‘s hard hit could not be handled by the Marlins’ first baseman, allowing an infield single that drove in a run. Miguel Amaya later doubled to tie the game, although the go-ahead run was ruled out at home plate after a video review. However, Christopher Morel came through with a clutch double, putting the Cubs ahead 7-6.

In the ninth inning, Cubs closer Adbert Alzolay got two quick outs, but a double followed by a walk put the game in jeopardy. Luis Arraez, who homered earlier, ended the game with a walk-off two-run double, sealing Miami’s comeback.

The Cubs struggled with starting pitching and failed to secure insurance runs late in the game, putting pressure on their bullpen. “We need to focus on our approach and not let this loss linger,” said Cubs manager David Ross.

Chicago hopes to bounce back in game two of the series, set for Tuesday at 5:40 p.m. CT, where they will face off against Braxton Garrett.
