Cooler Weather Ahead as Nor’easter Approaches Greater Boston

BOSTON, Massachusetts — Following a brief warm spell, the Greater Boston area is shifting back to cooler temperatures as a late-season nor’easter heads for the region this week. According to the National Weather Service, the city can expect cooler than average weather as the week progresses.
“For the next couple of days, there’ll be mainly dry conditions Monday and Tuesday,” said meteorologist Torry Dooley. The forecast suggests temperatures reaching the low to mid-60s at best, with breeze making it feel cooler.
Residents in Boston are likely to enjoy a mixture of clouds and sunshine, while areas to the southwest may see a few warmer spots hitting the mid-60s. “But by Wednesday, we expect that a low-pressure system will bring rain, especially by evening,” said Dooley.
The weather will become particularly chilly on Thursday with temperatures struggling to escape the 40s in some areas, thanks to northeasterly winds. The model suggests that rain could be heavy at times, with some locations receiving more than an inch of rainfall.
As the storm system moves towards Canada later in the week, Friday may see a slight improvement in conditions, with temperatures warming up to the upper 50s. However, lingering rain could affect the start of the Memorial Day weekend.
“As we step into the weekend, we may face some lingering rain on Saturday,” Dooley said. “But there is potential for slightly warmer temperatures on Sunday and into Monday.” Preliminary forecasts suggest highs in the 60s for the holiday weekend, though the chance of rain on Monday remains.
Overall, the Greater Boston area is set for a week of unsettled weather, with residents advised to prepare for cool and potentially rainy conditions.
