Alex Caruso Thunder Nba Playoffs

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City Thunder delivered a commanding performance on Sunday night, defeating the Denver Nuggets 125-93 in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals. The win advances the Thunder to the conference finals for the first time in nearly a decade.

Veteran guard Alex Caruso played a pivotal role in the victory, showcasing his defensive skills while also contributing offensively with 11 points, three assists, and three steals. Early in the game, Thunder coach Mark Daigneault sensed a lack of energy from the team and emphasized to Caruso, “The energy starts with you.”

Despite limited time on the court, Caruso’s effort set the tone for the team. “I’m allowed to just be myself,” Caruso said after the game. “The guys make it really easy because they have a lot of trust in me.”

During the matchup, the Thunder’s defense shined as they forced the Nuggets into 23 turnovers, converting them into 37 points. This strategy proved crucial in maintaining momentum throughout the game. Daigneault praised Caruso’s efforts, stating, “If you’re putting a 6-5 guard on a player like that, you need relentless help and pressure on the entry passes.”

Caruso’s defensive tenacity was particularly evident against Nuggets star Nikola Jokić, who ended the game with 20 points but struggled to find his rhythm. “It’s a lot of hard work, obviously,” Caruso noted about defending Jokić. “I’m not doing that on my own.”

The Thunder rallied behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who led the team with 35 points, shooting 12 of 19 from the field. Teammate Jalen Williams also contributed significantly, scoring 24 points. This performance marked a turnaround after a challenging start where nerves affected the team.

As the Thunder celebrate their series victory, attention turns to the upcoming challenge against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who recently eliminated the Golden State Warriors. Game 1 of the Western Conference finals is scheduled for Tuesday, and both teams are eager to continue their playoff journeys.
