Tate Brothers Charged with Rape, Await Extradition to UK

LONDON (AP) — Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate have been charged in Britain with rape and other crimes, prosecutors announced Wednesday. The Crown Prosecution Service stated that a European arrest warrant was issued for the brothers last year, leading Romanian courts to order their extradition to the U.K.
Andrew Tate, 38, is facing serious charges linked to three women that include rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for gain. His brother Tristan Tate, 36, is charged in connection with one woman on similar counts, including rape and human trafficking.
The Tates, who hold dual U.S. and British citizenship, were arrested in Romania in late 2022. They were formally indicted last year for allegedly running a criminal organization that lured women to Romania to sexually exploit them. Both brothers have denied all allegations against them.
The extradition process is ongoing, with authorities in both countries coordinating on the next legal steps. Meanwhile, the Tates remain in custody in Romania as they await further developments in their case.
