Over a Dozen Earthquakes Shake Central Idaho This Weekend

STANLEY, Idaho — More than a dozen earthquakes shook central Idaho over the weekend, with tremors continuing into Monday. The largest quake, measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale, struck just before 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, approximately 10 miles northwest of Stanley.

According to the United States Geological Survey, this initial quake was followed by 17 smaller tremors, which have been recorded in the region. Most of the aftershocks reported on Monday were of lower magnitude, with the latest quake registering at 1.7 around 2 p.m.

Residents in the area described the shaking as unsettling but have generally reported no significant damage or injuries. Local officials urged people to remain aware of their surroundings and to prepare for any potential aftershocks.
