LOS ANGELES, CA – Tanner Scott has not been the same since joining the Los Angeles Dodgers. The pitcher posted a 1.75 ERA last season with the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres. However, in Los Angeles, he is struggling with a 4.56 ERA over 25.2 innings, and he has blown five saves in 15 chances.

Despite this, Scott leads the team with 10 saves and has an impressive strikeout-to-walk ratio of 28 strikeouts to just three walks. However, he has allowed 13 earned runs in 27 appearances, diminishing the positive outlook from his strikeout numbers.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts addressed Scott’s performance, stating, “I think, performance-wise, he hasn’t performed the way any of us expected, him included.” The emphasis on Scott’s four-year, $72 million contract has added to the pressure, leading Roberts to recognize its impact on expectations.

“Yes, it does. And you can look at any big contract and that’s unrealistic,” Roberts said. He added that the team signed Scott not only for this season but for the postseason. “I do think a guy that has taken the baseball deserves some grace in the infancy of his contract. Because he’s not perfect. He’s never going to be perfect.”

Scott himself is aware of the ups and downs of his current season, expressing optimism. “There’s been some good. There’s been some bad. I like seeing more good, obviously,” he said. “But if I was only seeing good, baseball wouldn’t be baseball, right?”

As the season progresses, fans are hopeful that Scott will improve and return to his previous form.
