TikTok Star Sana Yousaf Shot Dead in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — A 17-year-old TikTok star, Sana Yousaf, was shot and killed in her home on Monday night, June 2, in Islamabad’s G-13 Sector. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Sumbal police station and has drawn significant attention on social media.
According to police sources, Sana was attacked at close range by an unidentified assailant who entered her home and opened fire before fleeing the scene. Sana, originally from Chitral and with a following of over four million on Instagram and TikTok, died on the spot after sustaining two gunshot wounds.
Authorities believe the shooter may have been a guest at her residence. “The suspect entered the house, fired multiple shots, and then fled the scene,” a police spokesperson said. Her body was later transported to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a post-mortem examination.
Though the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, investigators are exploring several angles, including possible personal disputes or a potential honor-related crime. No suspects have been arrested yet.
The violent death of Sana Yousaf has sparked outrage online, with fans and fellow influencers demanding justice. The hashtag #JusticeForSanaYousaf has been trending across various platforms, highlighting the risks faced by women, especially those in the public eye, in Pakistan.
This incident follows a disturbing trend involving the violence against female influencers in the country. Earlier this year, another teenage girl, Hira, was killed by family members in Quetta, allegedly over her TikTok activities.
