DJ Daniel Faces New Battle with Cancer After Inspiring Americans

Washington, D.C. — Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, a 13-year-old boy known for his brave fight against cancer, has announced that he is once again battling the disease. The White House shared the news on social media, expressing support for the young man.
“We’re lifting up Agent DJ Daniel in prayer after his dad, Theodis, shared that DJ is now facing three new tumors,” the White House account posted on X and Facebook. “DJ is one of the strongest, bravest young men — and has now been sworn into 1,351 law enforcement agencies across the country.”
DJ, who previously battled brain and spinal cancer, first garnered national attention when he sat as a guest during President Donald Trump‘s address to Congress in March 2024. At that time, Trump commended DJ for overcoming a dire prognosis given when he was only six years old.
“The doctors gave him five months at most to live. That was more than six years ago,” Trump noted, highlighting DJ’s perseverance. Since then, DJ’s goal has been to become a police officer, and he has been honored as an honorary officer several times.
In an effort to raise awareness and funds for children with cancer, DJ released a TikTok video reaching out to country music star Jason Aldean for assistance with a fundraising event.
“Hey does anybody know Jason Aldean?” DJ asked in the clip. “’Cause we’re trying to do a country show down here to raise money for kids with cancer.”
DJ’s father, Theodis, spoke to Fox7 TV about their family’s ongoing challenges. “It’s rough,” he said. “There isn’t a class that can teach you how to deal with it. You’re hearing that your child has a nasty disease.”
Support for DJ has poured in, with many sending prayers and well-wishes. “If all people had 1 ounce of the courage this kid has the world would be a much better place,” one supporter commented on the White House’s post. Others echoed sentiments of admiration and support for the young fighter.
As DJ continues his fight, he remains a symbol of hope, courage, and determination.
