Central Texas Heat Storm Weather Forecast

AUSTIN, Texas — Central Texas is facing a scorching Sunday, with temperatures expected to reach 100 degrees. This hot weather will be shortly followed by a wet and stormy week ahead.

FOX 7 Austin Meteorologist Leslie London stated that while temperatures may hit the triple-digit mark, high humidity levels will make it feel even hotter. “We’ve actually been feeling like triple digits,” London emphasized, pointing out that dew points are forecasted to stay in the low to mid-70s. She advised, “If you are outside at all, do make sure that you’re drinking lots of water.”

As the day progresses, the skies will start off cloudy but are expected to clear up, leading to mostly sunny conditions that will intensify the heat.

London mentioned that the excessively hot weather will begin to shift on Monday. After a relatively quiet day, the forecast calls for an increase in storm activity starting Monday night and continuing into early Tuesday morning. “Late Monday into Tuesday morning is when we could end up seeing some severe weather,” she stated, noting that there is a marginal risk for severe storms.

Rain chances will persist throughout much of the workweek, with potential precipitation expected on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. London highlighted that this wet pattern could result in significant rainfall, with some areas receiving between one to two inches or more over the course of the week. This increase in cloud cover and rain will provide some relief from the oppressive heat, as high temperatures are predicted to drop slightly from Monday’s peaks.

Overall, Central Texas residents should stay prepared for the extreme heat on Sunday and expect a significant transition to stormy weather beginning Monday night.
