Rochesterfest Canceled Today Due to Severe Weather Threat

ROCHESTER, Minn. — Rochesterfest has canceled all events scheduled for today, Thursday, June 26, due to anticipated severe weather conditions. The decision was made after consulting with the National Weather Service and local police officials.
Randy Stocker, executive director of Rochesterfest, emphasized the importance of safety, stating, “Sorry about the bad news, but the safety of the volunteers, food vendors, exhibitors, and attendees is the most important thing.” The National Weather Service has warned of severe weather, including the potential for flooding and tornadoes.
The officials issued a tornado watch for several counties, including Olmsted, Fillmore, and Houston, valid through 10 PM tonight. Additionally, a flood watch is in effect until 7 AM Friday. Forecasts predict rainfall amounts could reach up to 5 inches in localized areas.
Rochester‘s streets also face temporary detours as the city plans to close North Broadway Avenue from 7 PM Wednesday to 5 AM Thursday. This street closure aims to ensure safety amid the developing storms.
Rochesterfest will resume its activities on Friday and is set to proceed through Saturday at Soldiers Field Park. With the severe weather expected to pass, Friday is anticipated to present a much better environment for the festival’s events.
