Take Two Interactive Strauss Zelnick Interview

NEW YORK, NY — Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed strong confidence in the release date of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), scheduled for May 26, 2026, during an interview on CNBC. This statement comes after the game faced a delay from its original 2025 launch date.

Despite a history of delays from Rockstar Games, the developer behind the iconic series, Zelnick reassured fans of his high conviction that the new date is reliable. “My level of conviction is very, very high,” he stated, emphasizing that GTA 6 is a primary focus for Rockstar despite other ongoing projects.

The anticipation surrounding GTA 6 is immense, with previous trailers drawing 93 million views on YouTube, marking the largest non-music video debut on the platform. “Rockstar’s whole stock in trade is to have these extraordinary expectations, and still to beat them,” Zelnick added, hinting at the high standards fans have come to expect from the franchise.

However, uncertainty remains regarding the game’s price. Industry trends suggest it may reach $80 or more, which Zelnick acknowledged, stating that the pricing will be announced in due course. Given the game’s anticipated high production value, the potential price increase may be justified to consumers.

Take-Two’s recent Q2 2025 earnings report revealed net bookings of $1.42 billion, showcasing the company’s robust financial health. The confidence in GTA 6 contributes to a raised full-year net bookings projection for fiscal 2026, expected to reach between $6.05 billion and $6.15 billion.

As fans eagerly await more details, they are advised to remain cautious given the gaming industry’s unpredictable nature regarding release timelines. However, the promise of an expanded world and innovative gameplay continues to generate excitement as the release date approaches.
