2025 Premier Lacrosse League Championship Set for Epic Showdown

DENVER, Colorado – The 2025 Premier Lacrosse League championship game is set for Sunday, featuring the New York Atlas and the Denver Outlaws. The matchup showcases the top teams from this summer’s season, promising an exciting battle for the trophy.
Both teams boast a lineup filled with college legends and future Hall of Famers. Coaches Mike Pressler of the Atlas and Tim Soudan of the Outlaws are making their first appearances in a PLL championship. Their previous regular-season clash on August 2 ended in a thrilling overtime victory for Denver, 13-12.
The championship game is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ABC and ESPN.
New York is on the hunt for its first PLL championship, backed by standout players like faceoff specialist Trevor Baptiste and goalie Liam Entenmann. The Atlas’s attack features a powerful trio: Connor Shellenberger, Jeff Teat, and Xander Dickson, all known for their impressive chemistry and skills. Teat, the 2024 MVP, and Shellenberger, a strong contender for this season’s honors, both scored over 40 points during the regular season. Shellenberger notably sent the last matchup against Denver into overtime with a crucial goal.
Defensively, New York will look to Entenmann for crucial stops. Gavin Adler, who successfully held Denver’s Pat Kavanagh scoreless in their last encounter, is a key player to watch. Meanwhile, Michael Rexrode will match up against Brennan O’Neill, while the defensive midfielder Danny Logan is noted for his elite protection.
The Outlaws recently marked a 30-day break before defeating the California Redwoods in the semifinals, showcasing their speedy style, which leads the league in shot attempts per game. Denver’s roster features four Tewaraaton Award recipients: Brennan O’Neill, Jared Bernhardt, Pat Kavanagh, and Logan Wisnauskas, a rare accomplishment in lacrosse.
Kavanagh, acquired in a recent trade, leads the league in touches and shots. O’Neill shone in the semifinals, scoring six points and drawing significant attention from defenders. Bernhardt, who recently joined from the NFL, brings unmatched speed to the field.
Specialists Luke Weirman and Logan McNaney, also with strong college backgrounds, have proven crucial for the Outlaws, particularly in high-pressure situations. McNaney has established himself as a reliable starter, leading the league in clean save percentage, while the Outlaws excel in transition offense.
Both teams come into the championship loaded with talent and history, ready to leave it all on the field. As the 2025 PLL championship approaches, the question remains: who will claim victory and hoist the trophy on Sunday?
