Jordan Davis Eagles Cowboys Game

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Jordan Davis shone during the Philadelphia Eagles‘ season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, stepping up after teammate Jalen Carter was ejected from the game. Davis played a remarkable 53 snaps, amounting to 87% of the Eagles’ defensive plays, showcasing his hard work over the offseason.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio praised Davis, highlighting the significant conditioning work he put in. “Very much so,” Fangio said. “I don’t think he could have played that amount of snaps as well as he did previously.” Last season, Davis began focusing on his fitness but intensively kicked it into high gear this offseason, shedding 26 pounds to become a leaner version of himself.

“Oh yeah, for sure. Obviously,” Davis agreed with Fangio. “I think about my rookie, my second year, that would have been a very tough game for me if I had to go out there and play all those snaps.” Reflecting on his progress, he added, “My body is changing. I look good. I hope I look good. But my body is changing, I feel great and it’s more about the feeling. I feel great going out on the field.”

Davis not only accumulated a career-high number of snaps but performed effectively, contributing to pressures on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. “It does [boost my confidence],” Davis acknowledged. “Because I know the more I’m on the field, the more I’m able to contribute and that just helps me be a better player.” He emphasized his objective, saying, “I just want to be out there and play. I just want to have fun with the guys, enjoy it and just pull out the win.”

This marks Davis’s fourth year in the NFL, a period critical for players adjusting to the professional game. The Eagles have already exercised his fifth-year option for the 2026 season, placing him in a position to make significant contributions this year as he continues to develop his game. Against the Cowboys, Davis tallied 6 combined tackles, including a tackle for loss and a pass breakup.

“This is what we’ve been preparing for all offseason,” Davis stated. “At the end of the day, I just want to do what I can to help the team. Whether it’s playing 2 snaps or 200. I’m ready to be out there, I’m ready to play.”
