Bills Dominate Jets 30-10 Behind Strong Defense and Allen’s Resilience
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills defeated the New York Jets 30-10 on Sunday, showcasing a dominant defensive performance.
Quarterback Josh Allen led the Bills, despite suffering a bloody nose early in the game. Allen played effectively, completing 14 of 25 passes for 148 yards and running for an additional 59 yards. He praised his team’s effort, saying, ‘We can breathe, so it’s good.’
The Bills opened the game strong, with running back James Cook scoring two touchdowns, including a 44-yard highlight run that extended Buffalo’s lead. Cook finished the game with 132 rushing yards.
Buffalo’s defense bounced back impressively after allowing 238 rushing yards in their previous game. The Jets managed only 100 rushing yards and 54 passing yards. Defensive end Joey Bosa had a standout performance with a sack and two forced fumbles.
Head coach Sean McDermott emphasized the team’s preparation and execution: ‘It was important for us to get off to a good start. And I thought we did that in a complementary way.’
Jets quarterback Justin Fields struggled throughout the game, completing only three of eleven passes for 27 yards before exiting with a concussion. Tyrod Taylor took over and scored New York’s only touchdown.
The Bills’ defense dominated the field, forcing the Jets to go zero for eleven on third downs, marking just the second time in franchise history an opponent failed to convert.
Bills linebacker Matt Milano left the game in the second half due to injury, but the team must now focus on their short week ahead as they prepare to host the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night. McDermott said players would need to wash off this victory and move on quickly.
