NEW YORK CITY, NY — Netflix’s latest series, “Black Rabbit,” dives into the complicated lives of two brothers, Jake and Vince Friedken, portrayed by Jude Law and Jason Bateman, respectively. The series follows Jake, a successful restaurateur who owns the trendy New York City eatery Black Rabbit. However, his life takes a dark turn when his estranged brother Vince returns from a long absence, bringing chaos and danger along with him.

“Jake appears to have everything sorted out, but his life unravels as Vince’s issues resurface,” said series co-creator Zach Baylin in an interview. “We wanted to explore how their family bond is tested in the high-pressure environment of the New York nightlife scene.”

Jake is described by Law as a character who seems to have turned his life around, managing a thriving restaurant. Yet, when Vince reenters his world, Jake’s facade begins to crumble. “Initially, Jake has done well and distanced himself from his wild past, but Vince’s return forces him to confront a darker side of his life,” Law commented.

Vince is depicted as more troubled, struggling with issues from addiction and a gambling debt that threatens both brothers. “He’s a lovable mess, and you can’t help but feel for him,” Bateman explained about his character. “Vince’s return isn’t just a homecoming; it’s a catalyst for disaster for Jake and the restaurant they built together.”

The series also features a supporting cast that contributes to the tension surrounding Black Rabbit. Co-creator Kate Susman expressed her excitement about the talent assembled, stating, “We feel so lucky to have a cast that brings these characters to life in unexpected ways. Each person adds depth to our story, making it lively and engaging.”

Before joining the series, Jude Law earned two Academy Award nominations for his performances in films like “The Talented Mr. Ripley” and “Cold Mountain.” Bateman, known for his work on “Arrested Development” and “Ozark,” serves as both an actor and director in “Black Rabbit.” The series mixes elements of crime, family drama, and personal struggle as Jake and Vince navigate their complicated relationship amid external pressures.

“Black Rabbit” aims to shed light on the nuances of familial loyalty and personal demons against the vibrant backdrop of New York City’s nightlife. It showcases not only the struggles of the brothers but also the world that entraps them. Viewers can stream all episodes of the series on Netflix starting today.
