Lonzo Ball Cleveland Cavaliers Media Day

CLEVELAND, OhioLonzo Ball, the newest addition to the Cleveland Cavaliers, is learning about his new city in the most humorous way. During the team’s annual media day, Ball, reflecting on his brief time in Cleveland, admitted he was surprised to learn about the city’s water sources.

“I like Cleveland,” Ball said with a chuckle. “I keep joking with the guys, I didn’t even know Cleveland had water.” His comments caught the attention of fans and media, sparking reactions online as many were astonished by his geographical knowledge.

Cleveland, situated on the southern shore of Lake Erie, is not only home to the largest city on the Great Lakes but also has the Cuyahoga River winding through it, emphasizing its significance as a port city.

When further questioned about the reactions to his comments, Ball laughed them off, taking responsibility for his oversight. “I did not know,” he said with a smile, adding, “Whenever I come here, it’s white though; it’s like snowing every time.”

The California native, who has played for various teams, including the Lakers, Pelicans, and Bulls, is adjusting to life in Cleveland. He expressed excitement about his new environment, stating, “Weather’s been good. I know that won’t last too much longer. Food’s been good. People have been great. I have no complaints.”

Last season, Ball faced a challenging period, appearing in just 35 games due to injuries. However, he is optimistic as he joined the Cavaliers, who previously won 64 games last season but were eliminated in the playoffs by the Indiana Pacers.

Cleveland’s acquisition of Ball from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Isaac Okoro is seen as a strategic move. Donovan Mitchell praised Ball’s abilities, noting, “He’s a guy that sees the floor naturally. He’s a defender. His cerebral part of the game I think will help us a lot.”

As Ball prepares for the upcoming NBA season, he is committed to helping the Cavaliers contend for a championship, saying, “I’m just here to help win a championship. Do my part. Be a good teammate.” The 27-year-old guard is looking forward to this new chapter in his basketball career.
