Scott Wolf Doc Medical Drama

LOS ANGELES, CA — Scott Wolf is making a highly anticipated return to the Fox medical drama “Doc” for its second season. He will reprise his role as Dr. Richard Miller in a multi-episode guest arc, starting later this season. Wolf will also take on directing duties for an episode set to air in early 2026.

Wolf’s character, Dr. Miller, faced significant challenges at the end of Season 1. After a scandal resulted in his medical license being suspended, he left his position at Minneapolis’ fictional Westside Hospital. “We always knew when Richard got fired that would never be the last of him,” said co-showrunners Barbie Kligman and Hank Steinberg. They added that no one expected his return to be in such a dramatic fashion.

This season, viewers can expect a different dynamic from Miller. Steinberg stated, “It will be a surprising dynamic, a new angle, and an interesting, different ‘way in’ with his return.” He stressed that Richard’s return won’t mirror previous conflicts, noting that the character will arrive with a changed energy.

Wolf, who became a household name from the 1990s series “Party of Five,” appeared in all ten episodes of “Doc”‘s first season. His character was initially painted as a cold antagonist but has sparked intrigue among viewers. Steinberg emphasized the complexity of Miller, saying, “He was a dynamic and amazing part of the texture of Doc.”

The series, renewed for a 22-episode second season, stars Molly Parker as Dr. Amy Larsen, along with Omar Metwally, Jon Ecker, and Felicity Huffman, who joins the cast this season. The show follows Amy’s journey as she rebuilds her life after losing her memory in a car accident.

Doc airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Fox, with new episodes available for streaming the following day on Hulu.
