Xelajú MC Prepares for Key Copa Centroamericana Match in Panamá

PANAMÁ – Xelajú MC is set to face Sporting San Miguelito in the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa Centroamericana on October 2, 2025. The Guatemalan team holds a 2-0 advantage and aims to maintain that lead.
Coach Amarini Villatoro expressed his expectations during a pre-match analysis, emphasizing the importance of concentration and performance. ‘We have experience playing on natural grass fields at home, which has allowed us to adapt. Although we have played mostly away, we have adjusted well, and now we’ll face the climate conditions in Panama,’ Villatoro said.
He highlighted the team’s preparation, noting, ‘Our players are ready. We deal with various weather conditions in Guatemala, and this diversity helps us play well regardless of the circumstances. I expect a good game, and we must adapt because our opponent is not playing on home turf.’
Villatoro believes there should be no excuses for the upcoming match. ‘We need to focus on playing well. In this series, it will be 11 against 11, and we cannot give any advantages,’ he stated.
Continuing, he emphasized the need for concentration throughout the 90 minutes. ‘We must be consistent and not underestimate the opponent. They are a strong team, especially at home, and we have seen their effectiveness. We need to be alert and mindful of their offensive capabilities,’ he added.
Xelajú MC will play Sporting San Miguelito at the Estadio Universitario, with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 PM.
