SHANGHAI, China – Mackenzie McDonald, ranked No. 99 in the world, faces Quentin Halys, ranked No. 75, in the Round of 128 at the Rolex Shanghai Masters on Thursday. McDonald is the favorite with odds of -180 against Halys, who is an underdog at +140.

The match is set to take place at 6:30 PM local time on Show Court 3. According to the latest betting odds, McDonald has a 64.3% chance of winning based on the implied probability from the moneyline.

McDonald comes into the match with a 32-25 win-loss record in 2025, including a 20-14 record on hard courts, with his best result this season being a finalist finish at the San Diego Challenger. Halys, with a 17-25 record for the year and 11-13 on hard, is looking to turn his fortunes around after a loss in the Cassis Challenger last month.

This marks the second time these players have faced each other. Their previous encounter occurred in the third round at the Miami Open in 2023, where Halys emerged victorious.

“I’m ready for this challenge and hope to learn from past experiences,” said McDonald, emphasizing his focus on the match ahead. Meanwhile, Halys is also keen to make his mark, aiming for a stronger performance than their last meeting.

In addition to the McDonald-Halys match, Matteo Arnaldi will play Rei Sakamoto at 6:30 PM on Show Court 3, while Reilly Opelka faces Benjamin Bonzi at 4:30 PM on the same court. Also competing is Jenson Brooksby against James Kent at 12:30 PM on Grandstand 2.
