Kate Gosselin Discharged After Surgery for Life-Altering Leg Injury

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Kate Gosselin, a former reality star and nurse, is finally heading home after suffering a serious leg injury. On Thursday, October 2, the 50-year-old posted an update to her social media, revealing she was being discharged from the hospital after undergoing surgery.

Gosselin’s injury occurred when her dog, Meika, ran into her while they were playing fetch at a local park. “My boyfriend threw the ball and she came running for it at top speed. I stepped the wrong way and she collided into my leg,” Gosselin explained during a TikTok Live session. “The impact was like hitting a concrete wall at full speed.”

Gosselin described the pain as debilitating, recalling that she “crumbled on the ground” after feeling something shift in her leg. Following the incident, she was hospitalized and underwent a three-hour surgery to repair a tibial plateau fracture, requiring plates and pins to stabilize the injury.

In her recent social media update, Gosselin expressed her relief at being discharged, mentioning the overwhelming nature of her recovery process. "I’ve had pain meds to make the ride more bearable… I can’t wait to go home, see the dogs, and get in my bed," she shared.

Gosselin thanked her followers for their support but also addressed negative comments she received online. “People not understanding the gravity of my situation should keep their unkind thoughts to themselves,” she stated. Specifying that her recovery would be long, she added, “It’s a lot to take in, but I’m grateful for all the support.”

Reflecting on her experience, Gosselin compared her current situation to the challenges she faced during her pregnancies with her sextuplets over two decades ago, noting, “I never thought I would see myself here again, but here we are.”
