Battle of the Bay: Hampton vs. Norfolk State Set for October 4
HAMPTON, Virginia — The NCAA football season heats up as Week 5 features the much-anticipated Battle of the Bay on October 4. This historic rivalry will see the Hampton Pirates host the Norfolk State Spartans at Armstrong Stadium.
Hampton leads the series with 16 victories over Norfolk State, which has eight wins. Both teams come into the matchup with matching records of 1-4.
The Spartans are looking to bounce back after a narrow 18-13 loss to Wagner on September 27, where they accumulated 298 yards of offense. Starting quarterback Otto Kuhns completed 17 of 28 passes for 119 yards. Kevon King led the rushing attack with 48 yards and a touchdown.
In their last game, the Pirates also suffered a defeat, falling 41-20 to Elon. Hampton was able to gain 373 yards offensively, with quarterback Braden Davis throwing for 194 yards and one touchdown. Tae’Shaun Johnson was the top receiver, making six catches for 110 yards and another touchdown.
