Guadalajara, Mexico (October 4, 2025) — Former Chivas player Omar Bravo was arrested Saturday night in Zapopan, Jalisco. He faces accusations of aggravated sexual abuse against a minor, according to the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office.

Bravo was taken into custody during an operation in the city center, following a complaint lodged with authorities. The investigative police, part of the Prosecutor’s Office specializing in cases involving women and children, executed the arrest based on a warrant obtained from the Tenth District Juvenile Court.

The Prosecutor’s Office stated that the investigation revealed allegations that Bravo had abused a teenager multiple times over the last few months. There are indications he may have committed similar offenses in the past.

The authorities detailed that, after the initial report was filed, they compiled a solid case that led to the issuance of the arrest warrant. Bravo is currently being held at the Prosecutor’s facilities and will soon be presented to a judge at Puente Grande.

“In the coming hours, Omar ‘N’ will be placed before the court that issued the judicial mandate,” the Prosecutor’s Office noted in its communication.

Bravo, who is originally from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, is a celebrated figure in Mexican football. He gained prominence while playing for Chivas from 2001 to 2008 and again from 2014 to 2016, becoming the club’s all-time leading scorer with 160 goals.

He has also represented Mexico on various international platforms, including the 2006 World Cup and received induction into the International Football Hall of Fame in 2024. His recent retirement from professional football came in 2020.

The Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office emphasizes its commitment to thoroughly investigate these serious allegations to ensure justice for vulnerable populations.
