Kroger Recalls Pasta Salads Due to Listeria Contamination Risk

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) announced a voluntary recall of two deli-style pasta salads, Basil Pesto Bowtie Salad and Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad, on October 4, 2025. The products were sold in Kroger Family of Stores across numerous states due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
The affected salads were available in the deli and self-service cases from August 29 through October 2, 2025. Kroger stores have removed the items from sale following guidance from Fresh Creative Foods, the supplier of the pasta ingredients, which were manufactured by Nate's Fine Foods in Roseville, California.
Though no illnesses have been reported, officials warn that Listeria can lead to severe infections, particularly in vulnerable populations like the elderly, young children, and pregnant women. Symptoms can include fever, headache, confusion, and flu-like symptoms.
Kroger advises that customers who purchased the recalled salads should not consume them. Instead, they can return the products to any Kroger store for a full refund or replacement. Customers with questions can contact Kroger at 1-800-KROGERS.
This recall affects 1,860 stores operating under various Kroger family banners, including Dillons, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, and Ralphs, in states such as Arizona, California, Colorado, and Texas.
The recall process began after Kroger was notified by Fresh Creative Foods on September 26 of the potential contamination. Additional notifications about further recalls followed on October 1, detailing extended dates and products affected.
As precaution, customers are urged not to consume the affected salads and to monitor their health. For further details, visit Kroger’s official website.
