Eric Allen Honored With New Plaque at Allegiant Stadium
Las Vegas, NV – Former NFL player Eric Allen received a new honor on Sunday just before the Week 6 game against the Tennessee Titans at Allegiant Stadium. The Raiders legend was recently inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, joining other notable Raiders in receiving recognition.
Allen’s plaque will be displayed alongside those of fellow inductees Cliff Branch, Richard Seymour, and Charles Woodson. He referred to this accolade as “another feather in his cap.” The former 14-year pro expressed his pride at having a plaque near his Hall of Fame bust.
“When we first got here it was COVID, so there was no one here,” Allen said. “We would do our show, there were no fans. I’d walk around and look at all those guys I looked up to. The Raiders were one of my teams when I was younger. Walking by, seeing Freddy B‘s name and Marcus Allen, I just hoped that I would get my jersey here. And now that it’s here, it’s really cool to have this spot in the stadium.”
Allen played his final four seasons with the Raiders in Oakland, accumulating 15 interceptions to finish his career with a total of 54 picks. He attributes his success and Hall of Fame induction to his time in the Raiders’ strict man cover defense, which he believes helped elevate his game.
