Penguins Aim for Third Straight Win Against Kings Tonight
LOS ANGELES, CA – October 16, 2025 – The Pittsburgh Penguins will face the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena tonight at 10 PM ET. The game will be broadcast on SportsNet Pittsburgh and can be streamed on the Penguins app.
After starting the season with two wins, the Penguins have an overall record of 2-2-0. A victory tonight would mark their first three-game win streak since late 2018. Pittsburgh has historically performed well against Los Angeles, winning 16 of their last 24 matchups since February 2011.
Defensively, Pittsburgh ranks among the top teams, allowing only three goals in the third period across their first four games. They have key players aiming for milestones; Kris Letang is three assists away from becoming the 20th defenseman in NHL history to reach 600 assists and the only active player to do so with one team. Meanwhile, forward Justin Brazeau is set to celebrate his 100th career NHL game.
On the Kings’ side, the team is looking to improve after starting the season 1-2-1. Los Angeles has struggled, particularly with their penalty kill, which is currently ranked last in the league. They aim to bounce back after two close losses in their last three games against Colorado and Minnesota.
Evgeni Malkin leads the Penguins with six points, including a league-high six assists. He also holds the record for the most game-winning goals against the Kings among active Eastern Conference players. Additionally, forward Bryan Rust has six goals in his last nine games against Los Angeles.
Despite their struggles, the Kings believe they can turn their season around. Anze Kopitar has contributed significantly with four assists this season but is dealing with an undisclosed injury. The Kings are also hoping to exploit weaknesses in the Penguins’ defense, especially when on the power play.
As the two teams prepare to clash, the Penguins will look to continue their momentum, while the Kings aim for a much-needed victory.
