PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Patrick Queen, veteran inside linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is making headlines with his standout performance. Over the last three games, Queen has accumulated 30 tackles, along with three passes defended and a sack, contributing to the Steelers’ victories against formidable opponents, including the New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings, and Cleveland Browns.

Defensive coordinator Teryl Austin praised Queen’s progress, stating, “He’s been playing well,” and noted that he has yet to leave the field during these games. Queen, who was signed in March 2024 to a record contract, has stepped up significantly in his role, solidifying his position as a defensive leader.

According to Austin, Queen’s comfort in the defense has led to a noticeable improvement in his performance. “He’s really playing fast right now, and it really shows,” said Austin. “We need that. That’s why we got him.”

The Steelers’ defense has excelled recently, allowing an average of just 14.7 points while recording 17 sacks and forcing seven turnovers over the past three games. Queen’s consistent presence on the field has been a critical factor in the team’s defensive success.

This week, the Steelers (4-1) prepare to face the Cincinnati Bengals (2-4) in their first night game of the season at Paycor Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, with the game being broadcast on Prime Video and locally on WTAE-TV.

The Steelers are favored by 5.5 points. This matchup is crucial as the team aims to maintain momentum in the competitive AFC North. Queen’s performance and the overall defensive strategy will be crucial against the Bengals, who recently acquired veteran quarterback Joe Flacco from the Cleveland Browns.
