Daddy Yankee Makes Surprise Return to Music with Christian Themes
San Juan, Puerto Rico – After nearly two years of absence, Daddy Yankee officially returned to the music scene during Billboard’s Latin Music Week 2025. The reggaeton icon, now revitalized by his Christian faith, shared details about his new artistic and personal journey.
During his appearance on October 22, Daddy Yankee expressed his enthusiasm about this new chapter. “I feel reborn, full of new energy, happy with everything I’m experiencing and the personal and spiritual change I’ve gone through,” he said.
The Puerto Rican singer announced his comeback with a new album titled ‘Lamento en Baile’, referencing a Psalm from the Bible. He reassured fans that the project would maintain “the same power, the same flavor, and the same flow.”
<p“It's a diverse album, and that’s why people are saying, ‘Wow, we didn’t know urban Christian music could be made,’” he noted.
Regarding his unexpected return, Daddy Yankee revealed that a “message from God” inspired him to resume his music career. “Everyone has a purpose in life: mine was this path where I thought I was going forever. He (God) said to me, ‘No, no, no. I want you back, to announce the message of where I brought you from,’” he commented.
In addition to his musical comeback, Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, also known as Daddy Yankee, recently resolved a legal dispute with his ex-wife Mireddys González. The couple came to a joint agreement allowing him to continue using his artistic name and trademarks, including ‘Daddy Yankee’ and ‘DY’.
