Local Teams Gear Up for Playoffs in Ohio High School Football
DEFIANCE, Ohio — With the completion of week 10’s Friday contests and the final Saturday games looming, local high school football teams are gearing up for the playoffs. Several teams in the Crescent-News coverage area have positioned themselves for top seeds.
In Division III Region 10, Wapakoneta (10-0) stands as the second seed and has secured a first-round bye. They will host the winner of the match between Lima Shawnee (7-3) and Parma Heights Holy Name (6-4) in the second round. Meanwhile, St. Marys (7-3) clinched the eighth spot in the region and will face Copley (7-3) at home in the first round.
Defiance (4-6) and Celina (4-6) have been eliminated from playoff contention, ending their seasons without further postseason play.
Over in Division IV Region 14, Napoleon (8-2) and Lima Bath (8-2) have both secured first-round byes as the third and fourth seeds, respectively. Napoleon will face the winner of Sandusky Perkins (7-3) and Lorain Clearview (5-5) in round two, while Lima Bath will take on the victor of Bellevue (7-3) versus Clyde (4-6).
In Division V Region 18, Liberty Center (10-0) holds the first seed and also earns a bye. They’ll host the winner of Eastwood (8-2) and Oak Harbor (8-2). Delta (6-4) will square off against Liberty-Benton (10-0) in the first round, with the winner moving on to play Creston Norwayne (8-2).
Archbold (8-2) and Paulding (10-0) are the top contenders in Division VI Region 22, both securing first-round byes. Archbold will host the winner of Seneca East (7-3) and Woodmore (7-3), while Paulding awaits the victor of Fairview (9-1) versus Tinora (5-5).
Finally, in Division VII Region 26, Leipsic (9-1) and Columbus Grove (7-3) have secured their byes. Leipsic will face the winner of Mohawk (8-2) and Montpelier (6-4), while Columbus Grove will host Gibsonburg (7-3) or Ridgedale (6-4) in their first round of playoffs.
