ASCAP to Honor Kehlani, Kali Uchis, and EJAE in Los Angeles Celebration
LOS ANGELES, CA — The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) will celebrate its 17th annual Women Behind The Music event on November 12. This year, ASCAP will honor three influential women in music: Kehlani, Kali Uchis, and EJAE, the lead vocalist from the animated project ‘KPop Demon Hunters.’
Nicole George-Middleton, ASCAP’s executive vice president and head of creative membership, announced the honorees, stating, ‘Every year, ASCAP looks forward to spotlighting some of music’s most extraordinary women by honoring them for their achievements at our Women Behind The Music event.’
Kehlani has earned five Grammy nominations and over 20 gold and platinum RIAA certifications. Her album ‘Crash‘ has received critical acclaim, with the single ‘After Hours‘ nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B Performance. Kehlani has amassed over five billion streams, illustrating her significant presence in the music industry.
Kali Uchis, a Grammy Award-winning artist, has gained recognition for her albums ‘Red Moon in Venus‘ and ‘Orquídeas.’ The latter debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and received nominations for Best Latin Pop Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards, and Best Pop Vocal Album at the Latin Grammys.
EJAE, born Kim Eun-jae, is the voice of Rumi in ‘KPop Demon Hunters,’ and contributed significantly to the film’s success. Her single ‘Golden‘ has topped charts globally and achieved over 700 million streams on Spotify.
ASCAP has previously honored talent like Coco Jones, Kandi Burruss, and Kelly Rowland. George-Middleton emphasized the importance of this year’s honorees, stating, ‘These women are pushing boundaries and inspiring future generations in music.’
DJ C. Devone will perform music at the event, promising an exciting evening of celebration.
