New York, NY — Colin Jost and Pete Davidson‘s ferry recently made a brief appearance in New York Harbor, although it did not sail independently. The vessel, wrapped in a striking Nike advertisement featuring the tagline, “NYC WON’T CARRY YOU. IT PUSHES YOU,” was towed for a quick spin this weekend.

This marketing effort is part of Nike’s campaign coinciding with the New York City marathon. However, according to a report from the New York Times, the ferry’s owners, which include Jost, Davidson, an architect, and a club promoter, are in hot water financially. They reportedly owe lawyers around $13,500 and have poured approximately $600,000 into a Staten Island shipyard for the ferry’s storage fees, turning it into what some have called an expensive advertising platform.

The ferry has previously served for special events, such as a Tommy Hilfiger fashion show last fall and a horror film named “Screamboat,” which might have a sequel in the works titled “Screamboat 2.” Recently, Staten Island high-school teacher TJ Smolka noted the ferry’s vivid reddish-pink makeover and alerted fellow ferry watchers, who tracked its rare excursion through the harbor.

Unfortunately, the ferry has since returned to its usual dock, still adorned in Nike colors. Smolka expressed concern about the ferry’s future movement, stating, “I fear now that it’s going to sit there like that.” The rarity of its outings has generated intrigue among local residents and ferry enthusiasts.
