Princess Charlene Joins Charity Walk for Animal Welfare
Monaco, Monaco – On Sunday, November 2, Princess Charlene of Monaco participated in a charity walk dedicated to animal welfare. The event is part of her ongoing efforts as president of the Monaco Society for the Protection of Animals.
Dressed casually in a tan Max Mara coat, a white top, and flared jeans, the princess carried her Chihuahua, Harley, as she joined hundreds at the Rokethon. This charity walk aims to combat the abandonment of animals, promote responsible adoption, and raise funds for animal shelters.
Held at the Fontvieille Big Top, the event encouraged attendees to donate for the cause. “Held under the Fontvieille Big Top, the event aims to promote responsible adoption, raise awareness about animal mistreatment, and support shelters through donations collected,” noted a post on the palace’s Instagram.
Princess Charlene’s brother, Gareth Wittstock, vice-president of the Monaco SPA, also attended, wearing a casual outfit and a white baseball cap. The royal family’s Instagram post highlighted Charlene’s engagement with dogs available for adoption during the event.
At the event, Princess Charlene met Lee Ji-yeon from Last Chance for Animals, a non-profit that contributed to a recent law in South Korea banning dog meat consumption. Charlene expressed her lifelong love for animals, stating, “I’ve always loved animals. My family taught me about animal rights and the fight against their ill-treatment.”
“I’ve always loved this breed; they’re adorable, intelligent, and small enough that you can bring them everywhere with you,” she added, referring to her Chihuahuas.
