NBC’s ‘Stumble’ Brings Cheerleading Comedy to Life
WICHITA FLATS, Texas — NBC premiered its latest comedy series, “Stumble,” on November 7, 2025, centered around the quirky world of junior college cheerleading.
In the show, elite coach Courteney Potter, played by Jenn Lyon, hopes to secure her 15th championship title after being fired from her previous position at Sammy Davis Sr. Junior College due to a scandalous video leak. Her departure is met with shock from her loyal squad, including Krystal, played by Anissa Borrego, and her rival, assistant coach Tammy Istiny, portrayed by Kristin Chenoweth.
Now, she finds herself leading a virtually nonexistent cheer program at Headleston Junior College, where the team consists of just one member, the narcoleptic Madonna (Arianna Davis). Undeterred, Courteney sets out to assemble a new squad filled with personality, including the egotistical football player DiMarcus (Jarrett Austin Brown) and the kleptomaniac Peaches (Taylor Dunbar).
The series, created by siblings Liz and Jeff Astrof, has drawn comparisons to popular mockumentaries like “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation”. Critics have described it as a tonal mix, struggling between humor and heartfelt moments but showing promise as it develops.
Having received only the first two episodes for review, some viewers might feel unsure of the comedic direction. The show juggles characters that are intentionally over-the-top but lacks depth at points. However, it’s clear that the creators and cast are committed to crafting engaging narratives.
As the episodes progress, fans will see how this motley crew of misfits might bond and improve to achieve their goals of competing nationally. Despite the rocky start, “Stumble” has the potential to grow and better connect with audiences.
