Fog Advisory Clears for Sunny Day in Southern California
LOS ANGELES, California — A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. for all coastal communities of Southern California. Drivers are urged to proceed with caution, as visibility could drop to around 1/4 mile or less during the morning commute.
The fog is expected to clear after 8 a.m., paving the way for afternoon sunshine. Temperatures will rise to the mid- to high-70s along the coast and the mid-80s in the Inland Empire due to offshore winds.
“Today will be a warm day,” said a meteorologist from the National Weather Service. “Expect temperatures to be around 10-15 degrees above normal for this time of year.”
Looking ahead, the weather will begin to cool tomorrow with an increase in cloud cover as a large storm system approaches Southern California by Thursday. Rain chances will begin to rise later in the day, with a slight possibility of afternoon thunderstorms.
Wind gusts in mountainous regions could reach up to 40 mph or more. While most of the mountains are expected to receive rain, the highest elevations may see a mix of rain and snow. Rain totals for Thursday and Friday could range from 0.5 inches to over 1 inch across the county.
Temperatures are forecast to drop into the 60s for coastal areas and inland valleys by the end of the week. However, conditions are expected to dry up for the weekend, though cooler weather may persist into next week.
