Denver Broncos Linebacker Alex Singleton News

Denver, CO – The Denver Broncos made several roster moves on Saturday, but one key decision stood out: inside linebacker Alex Singleton will not be placed on injured reserve.

Singleton, a team captain, played in the Broncos’ 10-7 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders just a day before the announcement. Although he will sit out Sunday’s game, the decision to keep him off injured reserve suggests his absence may be temporary. This is notable given Singleton’s recent cancer diagnosis following a league-mandated drug test that indicated elevated hormone levels.

Singleton played three days after learning about his diagnosis and had a procedure shortly thereafter. In his absence, Justin Strnad is expected to start at inside linebacker against the forthcoming opponent. Dre Greenlaw will join him on the field, while Garret Wallow returns from injured reserve, following a hamstring injury that sidelined him for four games.

In addition to Singleton’s situation, the Broncos waived wide receiver Trent Sherfield, a move that could affect special teams, considering Sherfield was known more for his offensive contributions. Denver signed cornerback Reese Taylor from the practice squad to the 53-man roster for Sunday’s matchup.

The Broncos also utilized two practice-squad elevations for the game, adding tight end Marcedes Lewis and linebacker Jordan Turner. Lewis, at 41, has reached his elevation limit, meaning he must be added to the roster if the team wants to use him moving forward.

As the Broncos navigate these changes, they remain focused on their upcoming game, aiming to maintain momentum despite the challenges.
