Benoit Blanc Returns in ‘Wake Up Dead Man’ This Thanksgiving
LOS ANGELES, CA — Detective Benoit Blanc returns for his third appearance in the upcoming film ‘Wake Up Dead Man,’ set to hit theaters on November 26 and stream on Netflix starting December 12. The new trailer, released on November 17, offers a glimpse into a mystery filled with dark humor and suspense.
This time, Blanc faces a challenging case that he describes as ‘perfectly impossible.’ The film, directed by Rian Johnson, depicts the investigation following the murder of Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, played by Josh Brolin, in an upstate New York parish.
The plot unfolds when Father Jud Duplenticy, portrayed by Josh O'Connor, is suspected of the crime. Despite initial accusations against him, Duplenticy teams up with local police chief Geraldine Scott, who is played by Mila Kunis, and Blanc to uncover the truth.
‘This goes way beyond normal police work,’ Blanc remarks in the trailer, indicating the complexity of the murder that leaves everyone baffled. Johnson, acclaimed for previous films in the ‘Knives Out’ franchise, asserts that writing the script for this installment was his most challenging yet.
Alongside Craig, O’Connor, and Brolin, the star-studded cast features Glenn Close as church lady Martha Delacroix, Kerry Washington as lawyer Vera Draven, Jeremy Renner as Dr. Nat Sharp, and several others, contributing to a diverse ensemble.
Johnson promises that fans can expect a blend of mystery and comedy, reflecting on the film’s structure that is reminiscent of classic Agatha Christie novels. With a strong cast and an engaging plot, ‘Wake Up Dead Man’ aims to deliver another addictive whodunit experience.
The excitement surrounding this film continues to build as audiences prepare for its theatrical release followed by streaming on Netflix.
