Evan Ferguson Roma Injury Update

ROMA, Italy — AS Roma is preparing for their Serie A match against Cremonese on November 23, 2025, amidst several key player injuries. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini has confirmed that forward Evan Ferguson is back from injury, which could elevate Roma’s attacking capabilities despite the absence of other key players.

Ferguson, who missed recent matches, has resumed training and looks ready to support the offense. “Definitely [he has improved],” Gasperini said. “Training is the right thing for a very young player, coming from another country, as he needs time to adjust and integrate with the team.”

However, Roma will still be without star players Paulo Dybala and Artem Dovbyk as well as Mario Hermoso, who left training early due to discomfort. Angeliño’s recovery is ongoing, and he continues to train individually, but he will not feature this week either.

Gasparini discussed tactical flexibility, indicating a potential shift to playing without a traditional striker. “In football, you can play in many ways; the important thing is that it’s effective,” he explained. Emerging player Tommaso Baldanzi may fill the role of false 9, showcasing his versatility. Gasperini noted, “If we’d had all our forwards, we might not have chosen that solution, but in emergencies, he has the ability to play that role.”

With Ferguson’s return, Gasperini is likely to solidify his lineup, with Ferguson leading the attack, supported by Matías Soulé and Lorenzo Pellegrini. The midfield is expected to remain unchanged with Bryan Cristante and Manu Koné. Recent under-21 standout Niccoló Pisilli will continue to wait for playtime despite his impressive performances.

In preparation for the match against Cremonese, Gasperini acknowledged the high stakes. “We are entering a period of 16 consecutive games, where the full squad will be vital,” he said.

Defensive adjustments may also be necessary due to injuries to Hermoso and Angeliño. Gasperini will need to consider using players like Devyne Rensch as they face a team that has won their last two encounters against Roma.

Kickoff for the match at Stadio Giovanni Zini is set for 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET. A win could lift Roma to the top of the Serie A table, but beating a resilient Cremonese side will be no simple task.
