Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Sam Taylor-Johnson Celebrate Stepfamily Bond

Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, aged 34, has highlighted his close relationship with his 18-year-old stepdaughter, Jessie Jopling, affectionately known as Phoenix, by revealing his nickname for her is “babygirl.” The actor, who is known for his roles in blockbuster films, shares this bond as part of his stepfamily with director Sam Taylor-Johnson.

Sam Taylor-Johnson marked Phoenix’s milestone 18th birthday by posting a series of past photographs of her daughter on social media. In the post, she expressed her pride and love, writing, “18. My darling Phoenix. Happy Birthday. You are everything and more. I love you. I am so proud to be your Mummy.”

Aaron and Sam first met in 2009 on the set of the film “Nowhere Boy,” where Aaron played a young John Lennon and Sam was the director. Despite their age difference—Sam was 42, and Aaron was 19 at the time—the pair formed a strong connection while working together. Sam reflected on their relationship, saying, “We had quite a psychic link when we were working together. I felt that link almost from day one of meeting him.”

The couple has been open about their journey together, addressing the attention their 23-year age gap has attracted. Aaron noted in an interview with The Telegraph, “When I met Sam, I’d already lived a life far beyond that of most of my contemporaries – I didn’t relate to anyone my age. I just feel that we’re on the same wavelength.”

Sam Taylor-Johnson, previously married to art dealer Jay Jopling, shares two daughters with him, Angelica and Phoenix. She has also directed several major films, including the adaptation of “Fifty Shades of Grey.” The director has encountered controversies, particularly with her recent biopic about singer Amy Winehouse, “Back To Black,” which has been accused of exploiting the singer’s legacy.

Since marrying in 2012, Aaron and Sam have had two daughters, Wylda Rae and Romy Hero. On their ninth wedding anniversary, they celebrated by getting matching tattoos. Aaron, who remains a prominent figure in the film industry, continues to be in the running to become the next James Bond, although these reports have not yet been confirmed.

Jay Jopling, Phoenix’s father, is a well-known art dealer, and his family’s connections extend to Ellie Goulding, the singer who was previously married to his nephew, Caspar.
