ABC News Correspondent Sparks Outrage with Comments on Trump Adviser

Washington, D.C. — ABC News correspondent Terry Moran faced significant backlash after a late-night social media post criticizing White House adviser Stephen Miller. On Sunday, Moran described Miller as a “world-class hater” and accused him of translating the “impulses of the Trumpist movement” into policy.
In his post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Moran said, “The thing about Stephen Miller is not that he is the brains behind Trumpism… It’s not brains. It’s bile. Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred.” His comments were quickly screen-shotted and spread across social media.
Vice President JD Vance reacted strongly, tweeting, “An ABC journalist [Terry Moran] posted this absolutely vile smear of Stephen Miller. It’s dripping with hatred. Remember that every time you watch ABC’s coverage of the Trump administration.” Moran later deleted the post.
The tense atmosphere comes amidst widespread protests in Los Angeles, where demonstrators attempted to interfere with Border Patrol arrests near Paramount, California. The situation escalated, prompting President Trump to deploy 2,000 National Guard troops to the area. During this unrest, Miller condemned the riots as an “insurrection” on social media.
Miller has long been recognized as an immigration hardliner, instrumental in shaping the Trump administration’s policies. He previously worked for former Senator Jeff Sessions and has been a key architect of the administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
In response to Moran’s remarks, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt criticized him on X. She called his comments “unhinged and unacceptable” and questioned how ABC would hold Moran accountable. Leavitt stated, “We have reached out to @ABC to inquire about how they plan to hold Terry accountable.”
Moran, who has covered significant political events for ABC News, previously conducted a notable interview with Trump marking his first 100 days in office, where they discussed immigration policies. He has often shared his views on social media about political figures, claiming neutrality while expressing strong personal opinions.
The ABC News team has yet to comment on this situation.
