Aces Look to Rebound as Storm Seek Upset in Game 3
LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Aces will host the Seattle Storm for winner-take-all Game 3 of their playoff series on Thursday, September 18, at 9:30 p.m. ET at Michelob ULTRA Arena. After losing a close Game 2, the Aces are eager to secure their spot in the semifinals.
The Aces, who ended a historic 17-game winning streak with this loss, previously fell to the Storm 86-83. Despite the setback, they remain confident in their home court advantage as they ended the regular season with a strong 17-5 record at home.
A’ja Wilson of the Aces, noted for her performance in the playoffs, rebounded impressively after a tough Game 1. In Game 2, she recorded 13 rebounds and aims to dominate against the Storm, who have struggled on the boards.
Malonga, a standout rookie for Seattle, was crucial in Game 2, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in just 23 minutes. Storm head coach Noelle Quinn may have to rely more heavily on her young player to keep the momentum going.
The Las Vegas Aces made headlines earlier in the season, not only for their winning streak but also for their strong teamwork. However, they must avoid a repeat of their fourth-quarter collapse in Game 2, where they were outscored 25-14.
Coach Becky Hammon expressed her trust in her team to bounce back. “We need to learn from what happened in Game 2 and play a full 40 minutes. It’s do or die tonight,” she said in a pre-game interview.
With the Aces favored by 7.5 points, the stakes are high for both teams. Many are watching how the Aces will perform under pressure and if the Storm can pull off another upset.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2, and fans are eager to see if Las Vegas can reclaim their form and move on to the semifinals.
