20-Acre Brush Fire Erupts in West Hills, Threatens Hidden Hills Area
A roughly 20-acre brush fire broke out Thursday afternoon in the West Hills and Hidden Hills area of Los Angeles, near the 101 Freeway and Valley Circle Boulevard. The blaze, which quickly grew to approximately 50 acres, is burning vegetation in the San Fernando Valley region, according to local fire officials.
The fire is located near Victory Boulevard and County Oak Road, with flames visible from nearby neighborhoods. As of Thursday evening, there were no reports of evacuations, but residents were advised to remain vigilant. Firefighters are working to contain the blaze amid challenging conditions, including high temperatures and dry vegetation.
Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesperson Capt. David Dantic stated, ‘Our crews are on scene and actively working to prevent the fire from spreading further. We are monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as necessary.’ The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
This incident comes as firefighting resources are already stretched thin across Los Angeles County, with multiple fires reported in recent days. The region has been experiencing above-average temperatures and low humidity, creating ideal conditions for wildfires.
Local officials urged residents to avoid the area and follow updates from emergency services. ‘We are asking the public to stay clear of the fire zone to allow our crews to work safely and efficiently,’ Dantic added.
