40-Acre Brush Fire Threatens Homes in Jurupa Valley
JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. — Firefighters are battling a 38-acre brush fire near residential areas in Jurupa Valley, as flames spread through heavy fuels in the Santa Ana Riverbed. The blaze, dubbed the Clay Fire, was first reported around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday near Pedley Road and Van Buren Boulevard, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
As of 7 p.m., the fire had consumed just over 38 acres, with flames moving at a slow rate of spread. Firefighters have not yet determined the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation. At least one water-dropping helicopter was deployed, with SkyCal providing aerial support as dozens of ground crew members worked to contain the flames.
This marks the second fire in the area in recent weeks. A previous blaze ignited last week but was quickly contained by fire crews. The Clay Fire is burning close to homes, raising concerns for residents as the Santa Ana winds persist across Southern California.
SkyFOX captured footage of the fire, showing smoke billowing from the riverbed. Officials have not disclosed any injuries or evacuations at this time. The situation remains fluid, with updates expected as firefighters continue their efforts.
