Vijay Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam Flag Unveiling

Chennai: Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay hoisted the party flag at the TVK headquarters in Panaiyur on Thursday.

The flag features bands of red and yellow, with two war elephants symbolizing the people’s force and a vaagai flower representing victory. The design holds historic significance, which will be explained in detail at the upcoming state-level conference.

Vijay emphasized the importance of collective effort among supporters, stating, “We worked for ourselves thus far. Let’s all work for Tamil Nadu and the upliftment of the people as a party in the coming years.”

The TVK’s first state-level conference is scheduled to take place in Vikravandi, Villupuram district on September 22.

Addressing his supporters as ‘thozhargal’ (comrades), Vijay expressed pride in unveiling the flag among TVK functionaries. He remarked, “I don’t see it as a mere flag of a party. Rather, I see it as a flag of the victory of future generations of Tamil Nadu.”

Vijay encouraged party members to display the flags in their homes and remain confident in their mission for victory. He also instructed them to adhere to necessary regulations while hoisting the flags.

An oath was administered by Vijay to the party members, committing to honor the sacrifices made by Tamil Nadu martyrs and to strive for the goals set by advocates of the Tamil language.

The pledge included affirmations to act responsibly, uphold the Indian Constitution, and promote equality and communal harmony.

Vijay’s parents, film director S A Chandrasekar and Shobha Chandrasekhar, attended the event. They showed approval during the launch of the party anthem ‘Tamilan Kodi Parakkuthu’ when applauding the party general secretary N Anand.

Vijay formally announced the formation of the TVK in February and expressed plans to participate in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections after opting not to take part in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The conversion of Vijay’s fan association, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (VMI), into a political party plays a critical role in this transition. Anand, the leader of VMI, has emerged as an important figure within the TVK alongside Vijay.
