Adah Sharma’s The Kerala Story to Premiere on ZEE5 on February 16

One of the most highly anticipated movies of the year, “The Kerala Story“, is set to make its digital debut on February 16. Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Shah, the film stars Adah Sharma in the lead role. After a remarkable performance at the box office, raking in over 300 crores worldwide, the film is now ready to captivate audiences on the OTT platform.

The story revolves around three girls – Shalini, Nimah, and Geetanjali – who are manipulated by their roommate, Asifa, into converting to another religion. The first half of the film showcases how the girls were coerced into changing their faith, while the second half follows Shalini’s journey as Fatima Ba, a converted member of a terrorist group imprisoned in Afghanistan.

“The Kerala Story” sheds light on the shocking incidents that occurred between 2018-2019, where a rising number of Kerala youths were influenced by a terrorist group. The film also explores how brainwashed men targeted Hindu and Christian women by pretending to be in love, converting them, and convincing them to join war zones.

“The Kerala Story” faced controversies due to its trailer, which claimed that 32,000 women were missing from Kerala. However, these figures were disputed and proven to be inaccurate. The movie falsely suggested that these women had converted and were radicalized to participate in terror missions abroad. This led to bans and criticism from politicians, including Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The ban on the film was eventually lifted after the Supreme Court‘s intervention.
