LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Adam Sandler and Bad Bunny are bringing the laughs — and golf swings — to Netflix in a new sneak peek of “Happy Gilmore 2.” The image, released by the streaming giant, shows Sandler reprising his iconic role as Happy Gilmore, clad in his signature Boston Bruins jersey and sneakers, taking a powerful swing at a golf ball. Meanwhile, Bad Bunny appears as his caddie, adding a fresh twist to the beloved comedy franchise.

The teaser comes nearly 30 years after the original “Happy Gilmore” debuted in 1996, where Sandler’s character, a failed hockey player turned golf prodigy, famously clashed with Christopher McDonald‘s villainous Shooter McGavin. The first trailer, released in December, hinted at a renewed rivalry between the two, though details remain under wraps.

Returning cast members include Julie Bowen, who played Happy’s love interest, Virginia Venit, in the original film. New additions to the sequel include NFL star Travis Kelce, rapper Eminem, Benny Safdie (“Oppenheimer“), Margaret Qualley (“Maid“), Scott Mescudi (“Don’t Look Up“), and several PGA Tour veterans. Notably, Ben Stiller, who had a cameo in the first film, is also set to return in a significant role. Stiller teased a major reveal about his character, Hal, during a November interview with Collider, though he remained tight-lipped about specifics.

The original “Happy Gilmore” is widely regarded as one of Sandler’s most iconic films, blending slapstick humor with a heartfelt story about saving his grandmother’s home. The movie introduced audiences to Happy, a hot-headed hockey player who discovers an unexpected talent for golf under the guidance of Chubbs, a one-handed former golf pro played by the late Carl Weathers.

With the sequel set to reunite key players from the original, fans are eager to see how the story evolves nearly three decades later. The first “Happy Gilmore” is currently available to stream for free on Tubi. Netflix has yet to announce a release date for the sequel, but anticipation continues to build as more details emerge.
