Aimee Latour Appointed to Arizona Funeral Services Advisory Committee

Phoenix, Arizona — Aimee Latour, a funeral director at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, has been appointed to the Funeral Services Advisory Committee (FSAC) in Arizona. With a decade of experience in the funeral service industry, Latour will serve as the licensed embalmer representative.
The FSAC was established following the dissolution of the Arizona Funeral Director Board in March 2023, which had governed the funeral industry for a century. The committee now operates under the Arizona Department of Health Services, responsible for overseeing nearly 1,800 funeral service licenses across the state.
Latour expressed her motivation for joining the FSAC, stating, “It’s important to uphold standards in our business. I wanted to be a part of it, especially with the Arizona Funeral Director Board being dissolved.” She emphasized the significance of her work, saying, “This career means a lot to me. I view it as a form of ministry. It is a very sacred act that we do. There are laws for a reason.”
In Arizona, different licenses are required to operate as a funeral director, embalmer, or cremationist. Latour holds both funeral director and embalmer licenses, showcasing her qualifications within the profession.
Her journey in the funeral industry began in 2013 when she worked as a hairstylist at a New Orleans funeral home, utilizing her cosmetology skills. This experience ignited her passion for the funeral service field, leading her to pursue a degree in funeral service and mortuary science at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
Latour attained her licenses in Louisiana after passing the State Boards in 2018. Upon relocating to Arizona in 2021, she earned her funeral director and embalmer licenses for the state and joined Menke Funeral & Cremation Center in 2023.
