Air Canada has recently announced a generous update for its passengers, providing complimentary snacks and drinks on domestic (Canada-U.S.) flights until the end of 2024. This initiative includes free beer, wine, and a choice of snack options, with additional spirits available for purchase at a reasonable price. Passengers can now indulge in a snack and beverage selection previously limited to international flights.

The complimentary snacks range from buttery herb and garlic pretzels from Alberta Twigz to a delectable chocolate Célébration Cookie from Leclerc. The beverage options include craft beers from Hop Valley and Creemore Springs Premium Lager, familiar choices like Molson Canadian and Coors Light, and French wines from Paul Mas in red or dry white. Should passengers desire spirits, Air Canada offers a selection including Baileys Original Irish Cream, Canadian Club rye, Bacardi Superior rum, Bombay Sapphire gin, Smirnoff vodka, Tromba Tequila Blanco, and Campari, all priced at $5.

While the reason for this sudden change in policy remains undisclosed, it aligns Air Canada’s domestic offerings more closely with international standards. This move comes as a welcome surprise to travelers, particularly those accustomed to the airline’s previous limited drinks and snack options on long-haul flights to destinations like Los Angeles. Porter Airlines, known for its complimentary offerings, humorously acknowledged the shift by Air Canada on Twitter, highlighting its dedication to providing a more enjoyable economy experience for all passengers.

With Air Canada and Porter Airlines now on par in offering free beer, wine, and snacks, passengers have more options to enhance their in-flight experience. Beyond the complimentary offerings, for those seeking a fuller meal, Air Canada continues to provide additional dining choices for purchase onboard, ensuring passengers can satisfy their cravings while in the air.
